Spot Genetic Patterns and Break Automatic Cycles

Instructions

  1. Track your instincts for one week. Each day, jot down moments when you acted on ‘gut feeling’—from helping a friend to arguing about leftovers. Don’t judge, just notice.

  2. Find family or group patterns. Look for habits or responses you share with parents, siblings, or close friends, especially in competition, caring, or resolving disagreements.

  3. Choose one pattern to interrupt. Pick a behavior—like always wanting the last word, or stepping back from teamwork—that seems automatic. Next time, pause for ten seconds and pick a different action.
