Approach Generosity Like a Smart Investment

Instructions

  1. Map out your close relationships. List your closest family, friends, or teammates, and write the ways you help each other—big or small.

  2. Estimate the impact of your actions. For each act, think: does my generosity benefit someone in my circle who might also help me? Does the value travel outward or return as support?

  3. Prioritize helping where returns multiply. Choose one or two specific people whom you most often collaborate with. Find a new way to help them that also creates mutual benefit, like sharing skills, offering feedback, or supporting a joint goal.
