Map your organization’s value drivers. Draw three circles labeled Profitability, Growth, and Risk. List out what currently influences each in your context, such as specific products, customer segments, or process efficiencies.

Identify recent decisions that prioritized only one driver. Think of a time your team focused solely on cutting costs, launching a new product, or minimizing risks. Write down what improved—and what backfired.

Spot the trade-offs and hidden consequences. For each driver, note if attempts to maximize it led to losses or dilemmas with the others, like damaging supplier relationships for short-term savings.

Create a balance plan for your next key project. List how you’ll address all three drivers in tandem, including how you’ll build and sustain trust internally and externally.
